Dublin Sinn Fein Sinn Féin -- Building an Ireland of Equals

Shaun Tracey-Dublin South

Shaun Tracey is Sinn Féin's representative for the Dublin South Constituency. Shaun is twenty-eight years of age and has been a member of Sinn Féin since 2003. He was a candidate for Sinn Féin in South Dublin in the general election of 2007.

Shaun grew up in Ballyogan in South Dublin and currently lives in Stepaside. A plumber by trade, Shaun left the building sites in October 2004 to work full time for Sinn Féin. As well as concentrating on building the party in Dublin South he currently works in the Leinster House Press Office as a publicity officer for the five Sinn Féin TDs. On a voluntary basis Shaun is also the chairperson of the Martin Forsyth/Bob Smith Sinn Féin Cumann in South Dublin.

As a young man from a working class background Shaun is acutely aware of the many social problems caused by years of neglect in these areas. He is also fully aware of the disgraceful housing crisis, particularly in Dún Laoghaire/Rathdown which has the worst record in the whole state for the provision of social housing, and of the difficulties young people face when they try to find homes and build lives for themselves.

Shaun is fully committed to building Sinn Féin in South Dublin and to working alongside local communities and in cooperation with areas like Ballyogan and others in South Dublin to rectify the problems caused by years of neglect from establishment politicians. He firmly believes that the building of Sinn Féin and the strengthening of traditional working class communities go hand in hand.
