Terence Wheelock was arrested and taken into custody on the 2nd of June 2005 in connection with a stolen car. There is no indication that he had anything to do with the theft, and his mood was upbeat as he was taken away. Generally optimistic, twenty year old "Fuzzy Wheelock" (he was called that because he used to have an "afro" style haircut) probably expected to be released uncharged within a few hours, and rejoin his family in Summerhill. On Thursday 7 September, Pat Doherty MP and head of the Election Department addressed a joint meeting of the Finglas and Ballymun Cumainn in the Axis Community centre Ballymun. The meeting was also addressed by local Candidate Cllr Dessie Ellis as well as Dublin Director of Elections Shane McThomáis and Chair of Dublin Sinn Féin Michael Carr.
Pat Doherty told the meeting that if all members redoubled their efforts between now and next May they would return the first Sinn Féin TD for Dublin North West, while also paying tribute to the work done in the area by the two councillors and the local Sinn Féin team in the constituency.
