Ringsend to Celebrate International Women's Day-Doolan

Published: 29 February, 2008

Sinn Féin's Councillor Daithí Doolan has today launched a series of events being organised in Ringsend to commemorate International Women's Day.

Speaking in Ringsend this morning, Cllr. Doolan, said:

"International Women's Day is an international celebration for women all around the world. This year I am delighted to announce that it is coming to Ringsend. This community has organised a series of events leading up to International Women's Day next Saturday, March 8th. The week's packed agenda has the theme "Improving Women's Health". The events are all free and will include talks on breast cancer and prevention, stress management, looking after your mental health, alternative healing workshops, the unveiling of a sculpture and a celebration on Saturday night for local women."

Cllr. Doolan explains:

"Women have been the back bone of this inner city community for generations. Yet women get very little recognition for all the great work they do both in the home and in our communities."

Cllr. Doolan concluded by urging,

"Women to come along and enjoy a wide range of free events and celebrate International Women's Day on Saturday night."
