Ó Snodaigh calls for JPC meeting to discuss local area policing plans

Published: 18 January, 2008

Sinn Féin Justice Spokesperson Aengus Ó Snodaigh TD has called for a single item agenda meeting of the South Central Area Joint Policing Committee to discuss local area policing plans. Deputy Ó Snodaigh said Sinn Féin had secured a commitment in the 2008 State-Wide Garda Policing Plan that Joint Policing Committees will inform all Divisional and District Policing Plans.

Speaking at a meeting of the South Central Area Joint Policing Committee
this afternoon Deputy Ó Snodaigh said, "After much lobbying by Sinn Féin
many of our proposals in our submission have been included in the Garda
Policing Plan for 2008.

"One of those proposals was that each Joint Policing Committee would make
recommendations informing the local area policing plans. As this provision
has been included in the recently published State-Wide Policing Plan for
2008 I am now calling for a single item agenda meeting of the South Central
Area Joint Policing Committee to discuss local area policing plans and what
they should entail. This meeting should take place within the next two
weeks."
