Cllr. Larry O'Toole has launched a new initiative for senior citizens in the Darndale Belcamp area. The project "Care and Repair" is a service for citizens of 65 and over who require small repair jobs in their homes carried out free of charge by a maintenance team from the Darndale Village Centre. Reacting to news that a draft new National Pay Deal has been agreed Sinn Féin National Chairperson and MEP for Dublin Mary Lou McDonald described the agreement as a bad deal for the low paid. Ms. McDonald expressed deep disappointment that the deal has once again failed to deal with the issue of low pay and described the five cent an hour extra for low paid workers as farcical. The proposed new Corduff Childcare Centre is in serious threat due to the failure of Council officials to provide a lease for the site. The Corduff Childcare Committee have thus far been unable to obtain the lease despite repeated efforts to do so. Up to €1.2m in funding will be withdrawn if a

Sinn Féin's Councillor Daithí Doolan has tonight welcomed, "the introduction of
regulations for Dublin's off licences."
Speaking tonight during the debate in City Hall Cllr. Doolan said:
"Tonight's vote on introducing control of off licences will ensure that the current
situation of off-licences being outside control of Dublin City Council will end. It
has become necessary to introduce standards to govern the development of off
licences. This will be welcomed by residents, communities and traders right across Dublin. It will ensure mixed use of retail outlets and avoid over saturation of off licences in any one area of the city. " Read full article
