Sinn Féin Justice Spokesperson Aengus Ó Snodaigh has said Sinn Féin has identified a gap in the Criminal Law (Human Trafficking) Bill 2007. Speaking in the Dáil today Deputy Ó Snodaigh welcomed the publishing of the Bill but said while it makes it an offence to traffic children or adults for the purposes of labour exploitation, sexual exploitation organ theft, there are however, in the case of children, other motives for trafficking which the Bill does not cover. Sinn Féin Spokesperson on Equality and Human Rights Aengus Ó Snodaigh TD has cautioned against some of the measures in the Passport Bill 2007 including the proposal to use biometric data which Deputy Ó Snodaigh said automatically raises human rights concerns, particularly in relation to the right to privacy. Dún Laoghaire Sinn Féin has launched a petition campaign to secure the demolition of Mounttown Flats, Monkstown. 230 residents from Fitzgerald Park, Meadowlands, Oliver Plunket Road and St Patricks Crescent have signed the petition. Local Clondalkin Sinn Féin Councillor Shane O'Connor has criticised the greediness of the clamping company who clamped cars in the Monastery Shopping Centre in Clondalkin Village on Sunday morning 7th October. Speaking Shane said he was amazed at this clamping operation, while the Car Park was almost empty on the Sunday morning, or that there were likely some sensible drivers who may have been out on the Saturday night and had the good sense not to take their car home with them who have now been clamped for their good road behaviour.
