Traffic chaos on M50 could have been avoided - Crowe

The traffic chaos experienced by drivers this morning at the N7/Red Cow Interchange could have been avoided if South Dublin County Council had effectively communicated traffic layout changes which came into effect this morning at key artery roads surrounding the M50, said Sinn Féin Dublin South West TD Seán Crowe speaking from the Red Cow roundabout. People feel less safe in community, survey shows

Many people feel less safe in their homes and there is a huge demand for increased Garda patrols in local neighbourhoods according to a survey carried out by Sinn Féin across Dublin City on the issue of anti-social behaviour. Speaking in the Dáil today on the Commission of Investigation into the death of Gary Douch Sinn Féin Justice spokesperson Aengus Ó Snodaigh said, "Every state failure to protect the lives of those in custody, whether a Garda station or in a prison, must be the subject of an independent investigation". Deputy Ó Snodaigh welcomed the commission of investigation and said it has the potential to both uncover the truth and to make sound recommendations to prevent further tragic loss of life. Over 200 local supporters and party members attended the formal launch of the party's campaign at a function in the Clonsilla Inn. Well known Ardoyne Republican Brendan 'Bik' McFarlane who was the OC of the Hunger Strikers in the H-Blocks in 1981 and Dublin MEP Mary Lou McDonald were amongst the first to wish Felix Gallagher all the best with his campaign. Sinn Féin Dublin Central candidate Mary Lou McDonald MEP has described the Fine Gael/Labour/PD proposals on stamp duty as a complete sham. She said "Changing stamp duty in the present circumstances would have the effect on pushing up house prices and making them even more unaffordable.' She said that there are much more effective ways of helping first time buyers and other home owners including increasing mortgage interest relief. Sinn Féin Justice Spokesperson Aengus Ó Snodaigh TD has welcomed the announcement of plans for an official office to tackle and prevent domestic violence. Gallagher proposes Luas Line for Dublin West

Dublin West Sinn Féin election candidate Cllr. Felix Gallagher today launched his proposal for the construction of a Luas line from O'Connell Street through Blanchardstown, terminating at the site of the proposed 1,200 car Park & Ride facility at the new Dunboyne/Pace railway station. Gun death study highlights Government failure on drugs crisis - Ó Snodaigh

Sinn Féin Justice Spokesperson Aengus Ó Snodaigh has said a study linking forty percent of recent gun deaths to drug crime has highlighted the Government's failure to deal with the drugs crisis. Spain highlights Clondalkin and Lucan suicides in Government meeting

Sinn Féin Dublin Mid West general election candidate Joanne Spain today met with Junior Minister for Health Tim O'Malley and several representatives from the national office on suicide prevention including Geoff Day. Ms Spain was part of a Sinn Féin delegation that included Caoimhghín Ó Caoláin, Mary Lou McDonald, Carál Ní Chuilín and Jennifer McCann. At the meeting Ms Spain raised the issue of the high numbers of suicide in Clondalkin and Lucan and called on the Minister to consider funding the Teenline project in Tallaght.
