Speaking this morning, Sinn Féin Dublin South-West TD Seán Crowe heavily criticised the government and their "lethargic response to the deadly MRSA infection crisis which is striking fear into hospital patients throughout the state". Deputy Crowe revealed today how a personal friend of his actually signed himself out of hospital for fear of MRSA. The very next day there was an outbreak in the ward he had been staying in. Council slammed over failure to act on serious threat to children's safety

South Dublin Sinn Féin general election candidate Shaun Tracey has slammed Dún Laoghaire Rathdown County Council after they failed to act when he alerted them to a situation where potentially lethal intravenous drug needles have been recklessly discarded drug user in an ESB compound located in a local community in South Dublin. Mr. Tracey said over two weeks after he informed the Council about the syringes, which pose a serious threat to children who regularly play in the area, absolutely nothing has been done about it. Ó Snodaigh proposes alternative to McDowell's flawed Garda Executive Management Board

Sinn Féin Justice Spokesperson Aengus Ó Snodaigh TD has submitted 88 amendments to the Criminal Justice Bill which will be debated in the Dáil today. Deputy Ó Snodaigh said today there is an urgent need to get tough on crime but described the Criminal Justice Bill as a joke which only promotes gimmicks that have been tried and failed in other jurisdictions. Blanchardstown Sinn Féin Councillor Felix Gallagher has called for investment in amenities and the building of mutual respect for young people. Clare Hall Residents concerned over unauthorised works.

Concern and anger has been expressed by Clare Hall residents over unauthorised works carried out on behalf of NTL Cable, the television cable company. On Friday of last week Councillor Larry O'Toole was asked to intervene in a situation whereby contract workers had completely blocked off the gateway to a house and were carrying out unauthorised works near the entrance to the Estate. Sinn Féin announce details of major health for all campaign

Sinn Féin President Gerry Adams today announced details of a major Health for All campaign which will take place across the State over the coming week. During the week the party will set out its healthcare priorities which they want to see delivered in government in relation to acute hospitals, dealing with MRSA, primary care, mental health and drug and alcohol abuse. And beginning at Wexford General Hospital on Saturday 24th the party will also hold health protests the length and breadth of the country demanding action on A&E services and an end to the government's controversial plan to allocate land at public hospital sites to private for profit hospitals. "Answer to M50 Gridlock is Simple - Lift the Tolls Bertie" - Gallagher

Councillor Felix Gallagher - Sinn Féin's candidate in Dublin West for the forthcoming general election was this morning joined by a number of party activists at a demonstration calling for the ending of tolling on Dublin's M50. A 20 foot banner that read "Lift the Toll you bleedin' Troll, Bertie" was hung over the bridge at Castleknock that flies over the M50 and was greeted with a huge level of support from passing motorists. The event was part of a Dublin Wide day of action by the party to highlight the crisis on the motorway. Hundreds of leaflets were also circulated to passing motorists and pedestrians. Sinn Féin transport banner protests throughout Dublin

Sinn Féin members throughout Dublin took part in a city-wide transport protests this morning, Wednesday 21 March. Dublin Mid West general election candidate Joanne Spain and Dublin South West TD Seán Crowe took part in a banner protest calling for an end to tolling of the M50 between 8 and 9 am, peek morning traffic time, at the Red Cow roundabout. A similar protest took place at the Blanchardstown roundabout, along with events in Fairview and several other points in the city. Ms Spain said the traffic problems in the city were seriously affecting people's quality of life and said the M50 should not be tolled when there is no alternative route for motorists to take. Connolly Hospital Figures Expose Harney's Privatisation Argument

Blanchardstown Sinn Féin Councillor Felix Gallagher has said that the proposed co-location of a private hospital in the grounds of Connolly will have little impact on the public hospital. Figures released to Cllr Gallagher by hospital staff show that less than 5% of current beds in Connolly are private or semi-private. This figure is seriously out of kilter with the other co-location hospitals which average at over 20% private beds. Read full article

Coldcut shooting: action, not legislation needed - Spain

Sinn Féin Dublin Mid West general election candidate Joanne Spain has described the shooting dead of a young man on a football pitch at the Coldcut last night as a sinister turn in gun crime. Ms Spain said the murder, which occurred in public in front of numerous witnesses, showed that the people committing this kind of crime had no fear of punishment. Speaking after it emerged that more than one in ten secondary schools have no sex education programme for first and second year students, Sinn Féin MEP Mary Lou McDonald said, "Sex education must not be left up to parents alone." Traffic Chaos in Finglas

From Finglas to Cabra along the Rathoath Road has now become impossible due to severe traffic congestion. Iarnoid Eireann has now added two extra trains at peak hours on the Tralee route hence leading to severe tailbacks on both sides of Campbells Bridge. Sinn Féin MEP Mary Lou McDonald will present a major report to the European Parliament on Tuesday in relation to working conditions and entitlements for men and women involved in the maritime industry. Sinn Féin calls on Government to take action on domestic violence on International Women's Day

On International Women's Day Sinn Féin's three Dublin Women candidates Mary Lou McDonald, Joanne Spain and Sorcha Nic Cormaic issued a joint statement which called on the Minster with responsibility for Equality Frank Fahey to explain whether his promise of a national co-ordinating authority to deal with domestic violence was just a hollow pre-election promise and if not when will the legislation to give effect to the promise be introduced. Minister Fahey made his promise during a debate on a Sinn Féin private members motion on Domestic Violence last week. However, speaking the very next day his senior minister at the Department of Justice Michael McDowell told the Dáil that there was no legislation promised to give affect to that promise. Sinn Féin Justice Spokesperson Aengus Ó Snodaigh TD has called for a coherent code of law covering offences against children to be produced and said provision should also be made for mandatory protections for vulnerable child witnesses during all court proceedings. Taoiseach fails to answer question on Loyalist weapons

Sinn Féin Justice Spokesperson Aengus Ó Snodaigh TD has accused the Taoiseach of blatantly avoiding a question put to him in the Dáil today. Deputy Ó Snodaigh had called on the Taoiseach to provide any information he has received from Tony Blair and Ian Paisley about tons of weaponry imported from South Africa through British agent Brian Nelson and if that weaponry had been put beyond use.
